A Fabulous Team Effort April 2023
Twenty Three enthusiastic volunteers completed an amazing amount of work.
The two teams at Kopan Monsatery examined 353 patients and the Chialsa group of 4 treated over 200 people.
Thanks to the Rotary Club of Brisbane International an additional surgery was equipped with a new chair and Xray unit.
This enabled us to have 5 dental units in operation in 4 rooms at Kopan. Over 350 patients were seen which included 330 restorations, 130 clean and scaling, endodontic treatment, preventative sealants and extractions.
The Chialsa clinic was reloacted to a more spacious room with shelving previously constructed by Chris Hodge.
Additional autoclaves, curing lights and almagamators were installed together with a donated Assistina 3000 from Ivoclar.
The majority of patients were the newly arrived young monks and nuns who unfortunately had a high rate of decay in mixed dentitions.
The patients we had treated in previous visits however had very little additional decay. We expect to be able to spend increasingly more time and effort on preventative care in future visits.
